Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex
Tennis has been popular at WSU for more than a century. In 1902, the first Fairmount College yearbook related the story of students and faculty laboring to build courts at 16th and Fairmount, near Rugby Hall and Holyoke Cottage residents halls for men and women. Sometime after that, Fairmount College constructed courts north of 17th Street and west of the Fairmount entrance to the campus. Tennis courts have remained on this site to the present day. In 1993, following a gift from the Coleman family in memory of Sheldon Coleman Sr., the site was converted into Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex which features eight courts with spectator seating, a club house with locker facilities, an office and a snack bar.
